Planning for end-of-life care is never an easy topic. But on Saturday, GAC families came together to face that conversation with compassion, clarity, and community during our special seminar: Funeral Planning 101: What Every Family Should Know, hosted in partnership with Evan J Strong Funeral Services.
This thoughtful and informative session gave attendees the opportunity to learn what many of us put off for too long: how to make practical, faith-based, and culturally sensitive plans before crisis hits.
What We Covered:
Led by Evan J Strong, the session touched on key areas that impact every family, including:
Catholic and interfaith service options – how to navigate traditional rites alongside evolving family needs
Cremation vs. traditional burial – understanding spiritual, financial, and personal considerations
Memorial planning and meaningful tributes – ways to celebrate a loved one’s life with dignity and authenticity
Honouring cultural traditions – practical advice for families wanting to incorporate their heritage and rituals
Evan shared his deep knowledge with warmth and honesty, breaking down a topic that can often feel overwhelming or even taboo.
